Kilometers for Kendra

Let's come together to crush cancer step by step. Your participation in this walk will aid in both raising funds for research looking at eliminating and preventing cancer, while also honouring those who have struggled with cancer.

The Challenge:
  • This year, we are introducing a two-part challenge to raise awareness and money for teens with cancer
  • We challenge everyone to walk at least 3 kilometres during the 24-hour period in which this challenge is taking place
  • If possible, we challenge you to give a donation to the CancerCare MB Foundation- Kendra's Walk

About Kendra:
  • You can find out about Kendra McBain and her story here

Why:
  • Approximately 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, and about 1 in 4 will die from it.
  • Each year in Canada, more than 412 teens are diagnosed with cancer, and unfortunately, about 74 teens pass away from it.
  • By participating in Kilometres for Kendra, you will help honour everyone who has fought against cancer, prevent others from having to suffer from cancer, and help current and future cancer patients with their struggle.
  • Since 2009, the annual Kendra’s Walk has been held in memory of Kendra and the amazing person that she was.
    • Kendra began this initiative during her own cancer treatment when she realized that there was not a space designed solely for teens undergoing cancer treatment.
    • By organizing Kilometres for Kendra, we hope to honour Kendra’s mission and continue supporting and raising awareness for individuals living with cancer.
